ReplyDeleteDanny Coane of Montpelier, VT here. I play with Billy Bratcher in The Starline Rhythm Boys (VT) for the past 21 yrs. I was in The Cured for a short period of time (fall, 1965). Three of the members (Billy Parker, bass/Brian Cerutti, organ/Craig McNeer, drums) were from Montpelier and I played bass in a five-piece group (that went to seven - 2 girl singers) called The Jesters (1963-65). I was at the Univ of VT in 1965 where I met Brian Bull (guitar/keys) and Brad Sumner (gtr) who came into The Cured. The Cured 45 was cut after I left the group and was done on the Allen Assoc label in CT where Bull was from. B-side "Summer's Gone" was an original by Bull. I have this 45. I also have a 45 by The Beachcombers, a well-known, very popular Montpelier VT band in the 60's. A group from neighborning Barre VT, The V.I.P's, was a 4-piece who had members who went on to be famous, one in particular being Eugene "Gene" Leroy Preston, dummer, who became a founder and major songwriter for Asleep at the Wheel. I don't know if they ever cut a 45, but a great Central VT group in the 60's.
ReplyDeleteHey I'm also from Montpelier, Vermont. I'm curious about the cured, can I get a recording of summers gone? Only the a-side is on youtube
DeleteHey Beatlesbootlegs: Danny Coane of Montpelier here - still live here. You see my post above about The Cured and other bands. Who are you? Where in Montpelier. I am sending Jason a clip of the Cured 45, which will include B-side "Summer's Gone". Will try to get this done in March or sometime before summer (and before The Summer's Gone!!).
